In 2022, I stood at the Dischord House in Washington, DC, to photograph Ian MacKaye. This space is ground zero for the North American punk scene; it is the physical foundation where the DIY energy of 80s hardcore was meticulously archived, pressed, and distributed long before the internet. Documenting the architect behind Minor Threat and Fugazi at this exact location required stepping back and letting the historic weight of the environment dictate the frame.

The resulting image captures a quiet but definitive moment at a house that shaped the ethics of hardcore punk for decades. This specific photograph was selected to hang in the Washington DC exhibit of the Punk Rock Museum, serving as a permanent piece of documentary film photography within the larger hardcore archive.
