The Misfits
The 2016 Riot Fest gathering in Denver marked the historical return of the original Misfits core—Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only, and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein—sharing a stage for the first time in over thirty years. The live lineup was rounded out by drummer Dave Lombardo and guitarist Acey Slade.
Designed as a multi-frame contact sheet, this print compiles a sequential timeline of the performance, documenting stage movement, physical posture, and group dynamics across their catalog. It serves as a visual record of a foundational horror punk institution.
Glenn Danzig & Doyle
Captured on September 4, 2016, during The Misfits’ reunion set at Riot Fest Denver, this frame isolates an unscripted, candid moment between Glenn Danzig and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein mid-performance.
Marking their first live performances together since 1983, the shot contrasts Danzig’s stage movement with Doyle’s heavy visual presence in stark black and white.
Glenn Danzig
Taken in September 2016 at Douglas Park in Chicago, this portrait isolates Glenn Danzig during the original Misfits reunion. Performing alongside Jerry Only, Doyle, and Dave Lombardo, this set brought the foundational horror punk catalog back to a live stage after 33 years.
The photograph captures Danzig’s focused posture under dark stage lighting, documenting the voice behind Samhain and Danzig during a historic festival headline run.
Jerry Only & Doyle
Photographed backstage at Douglas Park during Riot Fest Chicago on September 18, 2016, this candid portrait captures brothers Jerry Only and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein immediately following their reunion set with Glenn Danzig.
Directly before the shutter clicked, both turned to state, “This one’s for mom”. A print was subsequently provided to the family, documenting a personal moment behind the large-scale festival reunion.
Ho99o9
Photographed on location outside Club Dada in Dallas, Texas, in 2016, this street portrait captures Yeti Bones, theOGM, and drummer Brandon Pertzborn prior to their evening set. The session occurred while on tour with The Dillinger Escape Plan.
The image documents the experimental industrial-punk trio in a calm moment outside the venue before their high-intensity performance later that night.
